Annagry emerged as winners of the National Schools Blitz held in the banks today. They won both the boys competition and the girls competition. Five schools took part in both the boys and girls section and this was very encouraging indeed. In the boys section Annagry, Ranafast, Loughanure, Belcruit and Keadue took part with Annagry winning their 4 games. They had 2 close games against Belcruit and last years winners Ranafast coming out on the right end of both games by a couple of points. Ranafast then beat Belcruit to finish second in the boys competition. Annagry captain Daniel Devlin collected the Eamonn mc Bride Cup on behalf of his team. Good performances by Daniel Devlin, Jamie mc Gee, Thomas o Donnell, Jack o Donnell, Mark Walsh and Tuathal Lunny for Annagry, Daniel Ward, Declan Ward, Sean mc Cann, Declan mc Cready, Noah Boyle and J.J mc Cann for Belcruit, Donnchadh Casey, Cormac mc Devitt, John mc Garvey, Ronan mc Devitt and Bernard Boyle for Ranafast and Kevin mc Garvey, Shane Boyle, Dara Boyle and Eugene Byrnes for Loughanure.
In the girls Section Annagry also emerged as winners to retain the trophy they won last year after wins over Ranafast, Keadue, Belcruit and Loughanure. They had 4 close games but their firepower and ability to score was the difference. Captain Ailbhe o Donnell collected the Eamonn mc Bride shield on behalf of her team. Well done to all teams involved on the day and thanks to the teachers in the schools and the parents. Thanks to Susie Rodgers for presenting the trophies. This brings to an end another successful year coaching in the schools and we hope to build and strengthen our relationship with our schools over the coming years. A massive thanks to schools coach Robbie who has been putting in the hard work in the schools since September. The real winners today are CLG Naomh Mhuire and all the children who took part in today's blitz and the blitz that was held last week also. Comments are closed.
