We will be in the school promoting Gaelic4Girls from the 9th of April and our starting date is the 15th at 4.45pm to 6.15pm in the Banks. More information will be distributed to all girls who want to be part of this terrific opportunity to get involved in sport when we visit the schools and parents will be informed on the way we want to proceed with this venture. Development Camp
Week 6 of the development camp takes place in the Gym RCS on Tuesday 12th. The girls are now into game situations and rules of the game and are progressing very well. Guess the Score Comhghairdeas le Jimmy Sharkey, Cál Cheim who had the correct score in our guess the score for the Donegal v Kerry game. Many thanks to everyone who bought a line and had a go. All funds collected will go directly to the girls training fund for the development camp. Gaelic4Girls The club were successful in their application to the ulster ladies council to run G4G (Gaelic4Girls) in our club. This is a 12 week course where girls from 8-13 years will get specialised coaching and is aimed to introduce girls to Gaelic football for the first time and all schools will be contacted so that every girls has a chance to join and in the long run our club will benefit with more girls playing sports and have fun. More details will be posted in the next week. Training Training for u16 an minors is thursday 14th march from 6-7pm in The Banks. Membership REMINDER membership is now due and players have to have it payed to train or play, Contact Marie Martin or Mary Doherty. We are in week 5 of the girls development camp (Tues 5-6pm in the gym RCS). The girls are putting in a great effort and improving their skill levels.
Girls please have the guess the score card in this week for the Donegal V Kerry game. U14-16 and minor girls training is Thursday 7pm in the Banks. Big effort to make training as U16 competition starts at the end on April. The club will be selling Saint Patrick's day Ribbons again this year in conjunction with The Carers Association Donegal. While the club will make a few €s towards paying affiliation fee for the year, half of what is collected will go toward The Carers association who do great work in Donegal and locally. So Supporters if you see the girls selling Saint Patrick's Day Ribbons, please support our worthy cause! The under 16 girls will play in qualifying group four with Cloich Cheann Fhaola, Glenswilly and Termon. This will be Round 1.
In Round 2 the top two teams from each of the 6 groups will go into 'A' League. The bottom two teams from each will go into a 'B' League. Under 16 qualifying groups (Round 1) Group 4
The dates for the first round are as follows: 26th March - Naomh muire v Termon 2nd April - Glenswilly v Naomh Muire 9th April - Naomh Muire v Cloich Cheann Fhaola All fixtures can be viewed on the fixture calendar (see link on homepage). The development camp is now in week 4 and 24 girls are settling in well and being put through their paces by club coaches.Tue's 5-6pm in RCS gym will see the girls in action again.
Keep an eye out for the girls selling Guess the score lines for the Donegal v Kerry NFL Division 1 game. We require a wee bit of funding to help costs for the camp. Girls from u14,u16 and minors are training in Aislann Rann na feirste 7-8pm Wed. nights. Preparation plans for outdoor training and a schedule and timetables are being drawn up and hopefully we can get all girls in our club area out as we have teams at u12,u13,u14,u16 and minors entered for competitions this year! Week 3 of our Development camp takes place on Tuesday 19th February from 5-6pm in Gym at RCS.
Great progress with 24 girls attending. This camp caters for girls from 9-to 13 years of age and is part of our club plan to have a continous line of players coming through our club for the future. For girls from 14 years up to minor training is from 7-8pm in Aislann Rann na Feirste on Wednesday evenings. It is important for all girls to attend training as the U-16 league starts on March 26th. Our in house Development camp is now in Week 2 at the Gym in the Rosses Community School. The next session is Tuesday 12 February 5-6pm.
We have a group of 23 girls attending ranging in ages from 9 to 13 years as well as 5 coaches.This initiative will further our aim of having an unbroken chain of players from U-12 to adult teams for our future. |
