Naomh Muire produced a good second half display to earn both points in this Southern Division 2 Under 14 match.
Naomh Bríd started the first half playing with the wind and looked very impressive, with Paul Diver and Ryan Brogan causing trouble to the Naomh Muire backline. Daniel Ward was playing well in midfield for Naomh Muire. It was Brogan and Ward who exchanged two points each that got the scoring started. Seán Robinson got another for Naomh Bríd but Ward again cancelled this out on the 16th minute. Naomh Bríd then took control of the game and added on 5 points before half time, 2 from the impressive Brogan, 2 from Sean Maher and one from Aaron Walsh. Naomh Bríd went in at half time with a healthy lead of 5 points. Naomh Muire were slow to get started with the wind and only for two point blank saves from Tuathal Lunny in goals the game could have drifted away from them. However encouraged by the saves, the patiently played their game, and Joey Gillespie got their opening point of the second half. Daniel ward then added another, before he made another strong run into the heart of the Naomh Bríd defence and despite losing control of the ball he managed to get his boot to it and slot it into the net. This left the sides level and it was Naomh Muire who pushed on, and further scores from Daniel Ward(2), Declan McCready, Joey Gillespie and Ronan McDevitt gave them a five point victory. Good performances from Tuathal, Daniel, Bernard Boyle, Ronan McDevitt and Joey Gillespie. Naomh Brid were well served by Ciaran McGrory, Ryan Brogan, and Sean Maher. Naomh Muire Under 12s defeated Aodh Rua Ballyshannon in the Banks tonight to win the Div 1 plate. The young lads who started their pre-season training as far back as January put in a great performance tonight in this, their final match of the year. Aodh Rua, always a club of top quality at under-age level, had no answer to the Naomh Muire who dominated from the start. Playing in Div 1 has been a big test to the lads but they have put in some big performances throughout the season and tonights win was well deserved. Great credit to coaches, Joe Glynn, Paul Mc Fadden, Declan Martin and Martín Mannion for their hard work all year and yet another great group of over 30 lads are coming through the system which is a positive for the future. The U12’s were away on Monday night to table toppers Naomh Conaill. Our B's put in great a display and worked very hard throughout their match against a very well drilled Naomh Conaill B team who could confidentially play at the A level. A good team performance on the night. Our A team again put in a big performance but failed to get to grips with a few of the standout Naomh Conaill players and as a result were always chasing the game. But what was very impressive from our side was the committment shown right up to the final whistle even though the game was well out of reach early in the second half. In a few previous games heads would have dropped as scores were being conceded. Players having a great game on the night were Tuathal Lunney in goals , Shane Boyle in the back line, Fintan Doherty in midfield , Eoin Glynn ,Joey Gillespie and Eoin Martin in the forwards. We went down on a final scoreline of 7.15 to 0.09 .
We had our largest panel of the season on Monday night with a total of 31 players available for selection : Alphie Greene, Aodhan Gillespie, Andy O Gara, Cathal Rodgers ,Conor Duffy , Conor Cannon ,Conor Hanlon, Danny O Donnell, Danny Ward , Dillon O Donnell, Dominic Boyle, Eoin Glynn, Eoin Martin ,Fintan Doherty, Fíonán Rodgers, Hugh Sweeney , Jamie McFadden, Jay Doherty, Joe Bonner, Joey Gillespie, Joseph Greene , Lee Gallagher,Liam Gallagher, Mairtín Mannion ,Michael Greene, Noah Boyle, Odhran O Donnell-Duffy, Owen Boyle, Ronan Boyle, Shane Boyle & Tuathal Lunny. Our next game is expected to be the Division one "Plate " final in the banks on monday evening with plenty of support as always much appreciated. |
