In the early game the reserves had a great victory over Naomh Bríd. The travelling team struggled to field a full team and so the game was playing with thirteen on each team. The home team were well up for this game and built a strong lead to go in ay half time 2-09 to no score. They had goals from Francis Gallagher and Darren Gallagher with John Pigen and Kevin Boyle weighting in with four points each. N. Mhuire kept the ball well in the second half and worked the space and had some good scores from Lawrence Coyle, David Coyle, Ciaran McCafferty, John Pigeon and Michael Logue. Played in glorious sunshine, the home side made a great start scoring two early goals, the first one coming from Owen Grant who released a rasping shot to the next from the lake side of the field. A few minutes later and it was 2-0 to no score when Shaun 'The Yank' Boyle picked up a long ball on the left hand side. Shaun turned his marker with lightning speed and sped goal-wards to finish to the net when a point was expected from the shooting angle. A point from Tom McHugh and Ciaran 'Moses' McGinley had the home team well on top before Naomh Bríd found their feet and two scores from David Walsh and one each from Pauric Gormley and Shane Walsh had them register four in a row. A good point from Darragh White followed by scores from McGinley and Sean the Yank Boyle had N. Mhuire going again. Tom McHugh kicked another 30 yard score from the right that saw Naomh Muire go in at half time leading 2-08 to 0-05. From the throw-in in the second half Naomh Bríd, having moved county man David Walsh out to the middle went on the attack. A good move up the clubhouse side of the field resulted in Walsh being in on goal only to hit the crossbar and see his effort go wide. The Naomh Mhuire defence were in good form and Thomas Duffy, Darren Gallagher and Sean 'Point' Gallagher made sure that there was no more scored to the end for Naomh Bríd. Naomh Muire tagged two good scores with the first a well taken free from Harry Harden while Brian Gillespie who worked hard all day in mark David Walsh was rewarded with a fine score. Danny O Donnell made some changes, bringing on Séamus Ferry, Aidi O Gara as well as John Pidgeon up front to see out the game. They have started their season well and are really enjoying the 'Go Games'. Some good football has been played and they continue their league at home to Kilcar next Wednesday in the Banks at 6.30.
The under 14s begin their year when they take part in the Feile in Glenties on Saturday. They will play 3 games against Naomh Conaill, Na Rossa and Dungloe. Training continues every Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings at 6.45 in preparation for the league which begins on May 11th. The under 16s are in league action on Easter Monday when they face a tough trip to Kilcar. Throw-in is at 6.30. Well done to Jack o Brien who has made the Buncrana cup u16 panel for the year ahead. There will be a training week in the banks from Tuesday 26th April to Friday to 29th. The camp begins each day at 11am and finishes at 3pm. The camp is open to boys and girls between 6 and 13. N. Mhuire 0-15 Carndonagh 0-10 (See Gallery for photos) Played with a slight cross field breeze it was N. Mhuire who got into gear first as they registered two early scores through Ciaran McGinley and Harry Harden. Carndonagh then had their opening score from the impressive Donncha Gallagher. Both teams defended very well and scores were at a premium. Gallagher fired over from 25 yards before replies from Paul 'Yank' Boyle, 'Moses' McGinley and Sean 'Yank' Boyle brought N. Mhuire to seven points while D. Gallagher broke two tackles to point for Carn to leave the half time score 0-07 to 0-04 in favour of the home side. The second half saw N. Mhuire dominate possession and Ciaran McGinley took a good return from Tom McHugh and drove over the bar before McHugh himself register a fine 30 yard effort. Further points from McGinley and Sean 'Yank' Boyle saw N. Mhuire push out to ten points before Carn had reply scores from McConnologue, Ryan Doherty and Donncha Gallagher. An impressive point from Sean 'Point' Gallagher and a point from the left side kept the score board ticking for N. Mhuire. Gerard Doherty for Carn pushed forward from midfield and took a score as well as further scores from D. Gallagher but N.Mhuire finished strongest with McGinley firing over points before the experienced Owenie McGarvey pushed forward and took a fisted score. The home team started brightly and had 1-02 on the scoreboard early on with a goal from the improving J. Pigeon and point from Kevin Boyle and Aidy O'Gara. N. Mhuire continued to control the game but had a number of wides. Carndonagh then got their first two scores through Iarlagh McLoughlin and Tony Diver. While Hugh McGeady controlled the half back line there was further points by Francis Gallagher, Kevin Boyle and Darren Gallagher helped N. Mhuire to a half time lead of 0-8 to 0-2. Carn worked hard in the second half and put it up to the N. Mhuire with Iarlagh McLoughlin, John Gibbons and Steve Doherty getting good points to bring them into the game but Kevin Boyle as well as a fine effort from the back by BP Boyle. N.
