These teams met 3 weeks ago with Cloughaneely winning by a point. However this evening Naomh Mhuire made good use of home advantage and won on a score-line of 5-16 to 1-02. Best on the night were Darren Sweeney who kept the score-board busy throughout, Shane Gillespie who hasn't missed a nights training, Daniel Devlin and Ronan Duffy. There have been good numbers at training for this team and its important that this keeps upWell done to all involved. Photos available in the gallery. The under 14 girls continued their winning ways with an away win in Cloich Cheann Fhaola yesterday evening (24/05/2011). The young girls were never in any danger and controlled the match from start to finish. They have now beaten Glenswilly, Dungloe, Letterkenny Gaels and now Cloich Cheann Fhaola in the league. This young side brought great pride to the club last year in a famous victory against MacCumhaills and with results as they are going this year they may be on their way for another good run. Well done to team and management. The Intermediate Championship got underway this weekend with three preliminary round first leg ties being played. Played in windy conditions, Aodh Ruadh needed a last minute point to defeat the fancied Fanad Gaels by one point in Fr. Tierney Park. Naomh Colmcille had an excellent five point victory in their game against the travelling Carndonagh side while St. Nauls took full advantage of their home game to beat Naomh Bríd on a scoreline of 1-12 to 2--03. A third game in all three ties is now a distinct possibility with all defeated teams having a home tie to come. Naomh Muire will play the winners of the Naomh Colmcille v Carndonagh match in the quater finals. (Please click on the image above to see an enlarged version). Full results are also available in the Results section. Tonight's (23/05/2011) U-12 Go Games that was to be held in Dungloe has been called off due to the weather.
The senior and reserve teams make the trip to Downings this Friday for the next league outing. The reserves get things underway at 5:45pm with the senior game starting at 7:15pm. The seniors are aiming to make it seven wins out of seven in the league whereas a win for the reserves would move them onto six points and register their first win on the road this season. The under -12s play their next tie in the series of GO-Games in Dungloe tommorrow night at 7pm. Go-Games are designed to maximise the focus on skill and enjoyment before players move on to the full rules games. These games are an important part of the young players development. Anyone who can should make the short trip to our neighbouring Dungloe club for the match tommorrow night. Réiteoir is Shaun 'The Yank' Boyle. The long journey to the Cross in Killygordan resulted in a hard fought win for the young ladies team today. Fielding a much depleted team due to holidays and work commitments our girls didn't shrink and took the game by the scruff of the neck from the first whistle. In a very entertaining first half the visiting side went in at half time leading by one point. HT: Red hughs 0-05 Naomh Muire 1-03. At the start of the second half Reds Hughs piled on the pressure and scored 2-01 to three points from Naomh Muire. Naomh Muire were now trailing by four points with ten minutes remaining. A switch to the forward line for Erica Hanna seen her notch her first of two goals and from then on Naomh Muire piled on the pressure to run out winners by a 2 goal margin. A superb team performance today seen the ladies take the first leg of the championship. Rich reward for the young team. Well done to all involved.
