A reminder that there will be a nutrition talk for parents and players in the aislann in Ranafast on Friday evening. Our main aim is to get as many parents and players as possible to the talk. The talk begins at 7.30pm sharp. See previous post for more info.
Following from the success of last weeks collection and with calls still coming in from the public for collection of more scrap metal....The Club will hold one more day of Scrap Saturday on Saturday 26th of November. Please pass this word around and encourage all to gather up their scrap metal lying about or call up to have it removed on the day. The money raised from this will go straight into Club development both in new projects as well as Club coaching for underage. The seniors and reserves will take on St. Nauls in the Banks this Saturday in the league. The reserves have a chance to move up the league table with a win. In the away fixture the reserves put in a respectable performance going down 2-11 to 1-09 in the end and they will be looking to even the score this weekend.
In the senior game this is crunch time for the travelling team where nothing other than a win will do. The home team know that a win for them will secure promotion to division 2 and also the league title and so it is all to play for. St. Nauls are currently on 19 points with four games remaining, giving them a potential total points tally of 27 (assuming they win all remaining games). Naomh Muire currently lie on 26 points, knowing that two more points would make it impossible for any other team to catch them and so achieve their goal of promotion. Throw in for the reserve game is at 1:00pm while the senior game gets underway at 2:30pm. Good luck to Danny and all the lads on Saturday. Come out and support both teams on what could be a great day for the club. A big Jigs 'n Reels night will be held in March/April for Naomh Muire Club Development. A fantastic list of local names are starting to emerge as potential dancers on what will be a great night of dancing. Plans are at an early stage but much help is humbly requested for both performing, teaching, assisting, setting up, advertising etc etc. This will be a great night with lots of work before-hand. We are looking for 8 lads and 8 lassies from the area who will committ to an 8 week period of preparation before blowing us all away with their Jigs 'n Reels on a night packed to capacity with screaming crowds. This is your new blog post. Click here and start typing, or drag in elements from the top bar.
The Naomh Muire GAA Club would like to say a big thank you to all the people from the area who came along with scrap metal today to the Scrap Saturday. This was a huge success and in fact the organisers ran out of time in collecting many items who people called up to have removed. All monies raised goes into Club Development. A further Scrap Saturday is now planned for Saturday November 26th (9am - 4pm) to allow for a further clean up in the Lower Rosses. Mark that date down if you have any metal which you want to dispose of. Great credit to John Cholm Gillespie and club members who helped out today in this unique fundraiser. A great day's work today. Today's division 3 league results:
Milford 2-6 Naomh Colmcille 0-12 Naomh Naille 2-11 Downings 3-06 Urris 3-12 Aodh Ruadh 0-11 The updated league table is shown below: Sports Nutritionist talk “The right fuel for a healthy body and mind” Aislann Rann na Feirste Friday 11th November @ 7.30pm – 8.30pm Everyone welcome Highly regarded sports nutritionist Peter Mc Veigh from Lurgan in Co. Armagh will be coming to the club to give a talk on nutrition. Peter has worked with Armagh, Antrim and Tipperary county teams as well as various club teams including Crossmaglen Rangers.
This is a talk with a difference with audience participation and simple practical demonstrations given on the night to show how to make quick, simple and fresh food for the body before and after exercise. Peter’s philosophy is to get his message across in a practical and fun way. This talk is open to everyone to come along on the night as everyone will pick up some useful tips on the night. We make a special appeal for parents to come along as it is them who decide what their children eat (breakfast, lunch, dinner etc.) and this is a very important part in their development. There is a small cost of €2 for adults and €1 for under 18's to cover costs. We look forward to seeing you on the night. The seniors will play a challenge game against Ardara on Saturday evening at 5pm in Ardara under the lights. Ardara are preparing for a div 1 league final with Naomh Conaill while Naomh Mhuire need 1 win from there last 3 games to guarantee promotion.
There will be a 5km run/walk this Sunday in Mullaghduff starting at Neddies bar at 2pm in aid of the Alzhimers association. Club members are encouraged to take part in this event and it would be great to see a large turn-out from the club, both young and old. Registration is at 1.30pm on Sunday.
