What an amazing game...what a comeback....the crowd go wild....wonderful scenes in Falcarragh..... Naomh Mhuire - All Ireland Champions 2011 Soiséair Comortas Peile na Gaeltachta. What a victory!!!! With 8 minutes left and trailing by 5 points most teams would be content to play out the match in the knowledge that it maybe was not your day. Then their County Goalkeeper saves point blank denying us the much needed goal....you sort of... accept that Laochrach Loch Láo from Béal Feirste are destined to win their first ever title. But no....this is Naomh Mhuire 2011 style they are playing, a team that the previous day grabbed victory from the jaws of defeat against Galway Champions Clonbur. One point brings a roar and an ounce of hope....a second point brings it a bit closer but the time is running out...then we get a majestic third without reply....there is now two points in it but the clock say 3 minutes left and the crafty Belfast men are pulling every stunt in the book to waste time. The body language of the Beál Feirste lads changes....they are losing kick outs to the Donegal lads.......the Naomh Mhuire support in their hundreds lift the skys with noise and encouragement.....then it happens before we get time to breath in the stands......One point more leaves a point in it but again the Reiteoir looks at his watch....then the equaliser and as long as we draw breath on this great earth....we'll never again witness the energy flow into these young lads. An equaliser meant that extra time would be played but no....these lads want to finish it off....now......a long ball, a short ball....Shaun J Boyle is within range ....bang....over the bar.....one up.....and no minutes left. Laochrach Loch Laoi's time wasting tactics had now rebounded on them.....but Naomh Mhuire were never going to allow this slip and they took control until Reiteoir Paddy Mac Giolla Bhríde blew the whistle which would see this All-Ireland return through the Mines to the two Parishes of Anagaire agus Ceann Caslach. It's very difficult to put in words anything which comes anywhere near to describe the victory. Many from the area who coulnd't be in Falcarragh....were in Falcarragh in spirit. Family members ,Fans, club members, locals, were sending texts, facebook messages and calls....this day is a much yours away from home as it is to those who were at the match.....and those who were at the match.....helped to win that match by lifting the lads in their time of need....the noise for that winning point will take a while to repeat anywhere. Apart from naming the winning scorer it would be wrong to start mentioning names of players...because this was a trojan team effort where everyone threw in their blood and sweat....The Club Committee, The Team Management, The Hero players, those in the background, the supporters, the friends who couldn't be here.... ....and I'll finish by mentioning one person who has allowed everyone to see on facebook....all that was great and good about Naomh Mhuire over the weekend through her outstanding photographs which mean so much to so many all over the World.......Bríd Sweeney....go raibh míle maith agat. Deaglán Mac Giolla Earnáin (0-01) Tá Naomh Muire fríd go dtí cluiche ceannais pheile na gaeltachta i ndiaidh bua in am breise i bpáirc phobailscoil Chloich Cheann Fhaola inniu. Bhí an aimisir go h-olc ó mhaidin agus nuair a thosaigh an príomh pháirc ag gearradh suas, hathraíodh an cluiche go páirc na scoile. Níor stad an fhearthainn i rith an chluiche agus is cinnte go raibh sé go dona do na h-imreoirí agus lucht tacaíocht chomh maith. Thosaigh Naomh Muire go maith le poinntí ó Ciarán Mac Fhionnghaile agus Harry Ó Hairdeáin ins an chéad chúpla bomaite. Ansin tháinig scór cinniúnach an chéad leatha nuair a bronadh cic pionóis ar Naomh Muire. Chuir Eoghan Mac Gairbheith go cúl na heangaigh an cic leis an scór a fhágail, Naomh Muire 1-03 An Fhairche 0-00 le deich mbomaite imithe. Chuaigh Naomh Muire seacht bpoinnte in tosaigh nuair a chur an fear lár páirce, Brian Mac Giolla Easbaig, poinnte eile thar an trasnan. Go gearr ina dhiadh sin tháinig athrú ar an scéal agus ní bheadh scór eile ag Naomh Muire go dtí'n dara leath. Chuaigh An Fhairche suas na páirce agus fuair siad cúpla scór agus ansin d'aimsigh siad cúl dena gcuid fhéin, rud a dh'fhág an scór leath ama: Naomh Muire 1-04 An Fhairche 1-02. Bhí an spiorad ardaithe ag muintir An Fhairche agus ag tús an dara leath fuair siad cúpla poinnte le na foirne a chur ar chomh-scór. Ansin tháinig an dara cic pionóis den chluiche agus é ag gabhail go An Fhairche an t-am seo. Fuair siad an cúl rud a d'fhág dhá phoinnte idir na foirne agus níos lú ná ocht mbomaite fágtha. Chur Dónal Ó Domhnaill, bainisteoir Naomh Muire, isteach Seán 'Yank' Ó Baoill agus bhí tionchar láithreach aige ar an imirt nuair a chur sé an liathróid thar an trasnan ag fágáil an méid is lú idir na foirne agus an t-am chor a bheith raite. Ón chic amach fuair Naomh Muire seilbh ar an liathróid agus ón imirt sin fuair siad cic saor fiche slat amach ach dheas den taobh líne. Thóg Harry Ó Hardeáin an cic sin lena chiotóg agus chur sé thar an trasnan é agus bhí na foirne ar chomh scór arís. Shéid an réiteoir an fheadóg agus bhí am-breise le imirt. Deich mbomaite an taobh. Ins an chéad leath rinne na foirne scóranna a mhalairt rud a d'fhág go leor den lucht leanúna neirbhíseach! Ag tús an dara leath de am breise fuair Seán 'Yank' Ó Baoill poinnte den scoith rud a chur Naomh Muire chun tosaigh. Bhí obair ag an réiteoir sriain a choinneáil ar rudaí ag an dá thaobh ag imirt go cruaidh gan nduine acu ag iarraidh cailleadh. Tháinig an scór a bhain an chluich de Naomh Muire ansin. Chur Pól Ó Baoill isteach cic ard ón taobh líne, isteach i mbéal an chúil agus nuair nach ndeachaigh nduine fana choinne chuaigh sé go cúl na heangaigh. Bhí ceithre phoinnte idir na foirne anois ach bhí trí bhomaite fágtha le cois ceithre bhomaite de am breise. Bhí An Fhairche ar an ionsaigh ó sin go dtí deireadh an chluiche ach sheas fear na Rossann an fhód agus bhí an bhua acu le ceithre phointe sa deireadh. Naomh Muire played their way into another All-ireland final today using all their luck in the last kick of the game in normal time to bring the match into extra time. It was the left boot of young Harry Harden who hit a high pressure free over the bar to bring this game into extra time when it appeared that the men from Clonbur had done enough to win. The match, played in a constant downpour, saw Naomh Muire race into an early lead and take control. It did look like the boys were going to storm ahead but this was a strong and experienced opposition who worked their way back into the match. In the second half Naomh Muire struggled to get any rythmn to their game and with a wet ball, gave away far too much possesion which Clonbur made good use of. Clonbur took a two point lead with a goal in this period and Naomh Muire looked doomed. However the old "It ain't over till its over" kept true for Naomh Muire and a point followed by Harry Harden's late pressure kick brought it all square before réiteoir Paddy McBride blew for extra time. There was only one team in extra time as the fitter Naomh Muire lads found the space and legs which Clonbur couldn't match. A Paul "Yank" Boyle 40 yard free floated over everyone including the Naomh Pádraig keeper and into the net. This was followed by the insurance by Shaun the Yank. Robbie O Donnell was the pick of an under pressure defence who did hold out when the going was tough. Overall, not a great performance but its a football match and not X-factor so we'll take it when it comes. So its now Naomh Muire v Laochra Loch Laí (Béal Feirste) in the All Ireland Junior final of Comortas Péile na Gaeltachta. Live on TG4 for our overseas supporters as well as on Radio na Gaeltachta at 2pm. Bígí linn. Once again, the young Naomh Mhuire side have done us proud and regardless of the outcome tommorrow, we've had a great weekend in all kinds of weather in Chloich Cheann Fhaola. Naomh Muire: 1. Seán 'Point' Ó Gallachóir dó Harry Ó Hairdeáin Ádh mór ar Danny agus an fhoireann uilig a bheas páirteach i gcluiche leath cheannais na hÉireann i gcomórtas peile na gaeltachta inniu. Beidh an cluiche ar siúl ag 3:30 i.n. i bpáirc Naomh Fionáin ar na crois bhealaigh, áit a mbeidh siad in éadan Naomh Pádraig (An Fhairche) as Gaillimh. Beidh an chéad chluiche leath cheannais ag tosadh ar 2:00 agus beidh sin idir Móin Dearg (Londain) agus Laochra Loch Laoi (Béal Feirste). Having come through the preliminary round match last night playing well within themselves, Naomh Muire lifted their performance today against Clann na nGael, the club side of Meath's Graham Geraghty, and recorded a comfortable victory as well as an impressive display. From the throw in to the last kick of the match, the lads were always in control and although Clann na nGael enjoyed an early lead through a well taken goal, this game was never in doubt. It would not be right to say that Clann na nGael were not good enough, it was more that the Naomh Muire lads wanted to prove that the previous night's tight result was not true form and today's game had the lads back to playing their earlier league form with great passages of play being finished with ruthless scoring. Up front Clann na nGael found the constant running of young Adi O Gara and Ciaran Mc Ginley hard to deal with and with Owenie Mc Garvey, Paul Boyle "yank" and Brian Gillespie driving forward from the middle it was football played well with good quick early ball causing all kinds of problems. Harry Harden hit several great points both from play and frees and Owen Grant rattled the net after a great move. In defence, young Robbie O Donnell debutising for the Bankok bound JC Mulholland, played well again in a tight marking role. Dan Gallagher cut out any loose ball coming in and Sean Pointe O Gallachóír opened up a few moves from deep. Overall this was a very good Naomh Mhuire performance and they grew as the game went on. As has been the case all of this year the amount who have traveled to support has been outstanding and there was plenty to cheer on today. Amárach at 3.30pm....the lads will play Cumann Naomh Phádraig, An Fhairche.....the men from Clonbur deep from the Joyce Country of North Gaillimh. This will be a big test against a strong and fit Galway side. An Fhairche beat Baile an Chaiséail well today. If Naomh Muire maintain todays performance level plus a bit more, victory and a place in the final will be the reward. That is well within our young side and we all get the feeling after today that their best performance is ahead of them in Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta. Adh mór Danny agus na lads uilig . Bhí an bhua ag Naomh Muire i réamhbhabhta an chomótais anocht in éadan an foireann baile Cloich Cheann Fhaola. Is cinnte gur cluiche deacair a bheadh ann seo do Naomh Muire áit a raibh Cloich Cheann Fhaola buailte acu i gcomórtas na Condae chéanna féin agus achan nduine ag súil leo baint go furast.
Shílfeá gur sin mar a bhí gabhail a bheith ins an chéad leath nuair a thosaigh Naomh Muire go maith. Chur siad cupla scór maith thar an trasnan le cúl ag teacht ón lán tosach Tomás Mac Aodh. Leath ama: Naomh Muire 1-05 Cloich Cheann Fhaola 0-02. Ag tús an dara leath chur Naomh Muire lena scór nuair a chuir siad trí phoinnte thar an trasnan taobh istigh dé dheich mbomaite. Is doiche gur shíl an slua agus lucht tacaíocht Naomh Muire go raibh an cluiche thart mar chomórtas ansin ach bhí smaointigh eile ag an foireann baile! Thosaigh siad ag imirt ag nuair a tháinig cupla fear mór isteach mar ionaidí thosaigh na poinntí ag gabhail thar an trasnan. Chuir Cloich Cheann Fhaola suas ceithre nó chuig scór gasta rud a dh'fhág an scór i ndiaidh fiche bomaite, Naomh Muire 1-08 CCF 0-7. Leis an bhearna ladaithe go ceithre phoinnte agus an t-am ag gabhail ina néadan chuaigh an foireann baile ag lorg an chúl. Chuaigh liathróid mór ard isteach agus nuair a bhris sé go dtí'n lán tosach bhí cúl ar a intinn. Scaol sé an liathróid ach chuaigh sé thar an trasnan. Bhí trí phoinnte idir na foirne agus cúig bhomaite fágtha. Fuair Naomh Muire a gcéad scór le deich mbomaite ansin rud a laghdaidh an brú agus an t-am ag imeacht. Isteach lé liathróid mór eile agus an t-am seo bhí cúl na heangaí fáighte! Ní raibh ach poinnte idir na foirne agus muid in am breise. Sa deich mbomaite dheirneach cuireadh beirt dón pháirc den fhoireann baile nuair a fuair siad an darna cárta buí. D'aimsigh Naomh Muire an scór deireannach den chluiche ansin nuair a bhí cúig bhomaite de am breise imri ag an réiteoir, Alan Ó Baoid as Gaoth Dobhair, rud a d'fhág an scór deiridh, Naomh Muire 1-10 Cloich Cheann Fhaola 1-08. Peile na Gaeltachta......Preliminary round- Chloich Cheann Fhaola 1-8 Naomh Mhuire 1-10.....Phew!!! Without coming out of second gear the lads made their way into the quarter final of an Comortás with a narrow win over the hosts tonight in Falcarragh. This was a no-win situation for Naomh Mhuire playing against a team they had beaten well last month with everyone expecting them to win easily... but the objective was simply to win and get to do battle with Clann na Gael tommorrow. In the second half a big and strong home side made it difficult in what was a niggly game. This stopped any flow which Naomh Muire tried to get going and made it tougher going than was expected. However....the main thing was to get into the next round and the lads never really looked like anything other than winners even if it wasn't by a bigger margin. They will play much better and more open against Clan na Gael tomorrow because that game is better set up than this slippery type of match tonight. We'll see the lads go through all the gears and they will be on song tommorrow. The game tomoroow is in the Pobailscoil field near to the school at 2pm.....Bigí linn. Tá deireadh seachtaine mór amach romhainn anois agus Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta ar siúl i gCloich Cheann Fhaola. Is cinnte go mbeidh cuid mhaith cluiche den scoith le feiceail idir Sinséar agus Sóisear. Tá ár bhfear féin ag imirt sa chéad chluiche trathnóna amárach nuair a bheas siad in éadan an foireann tacaíocht baile, Cloich Cheann Fhaola ar a seacht o chlog i bpáirc Naomh Fionáin. Naomh Mhuire won their second ever Peile na Gaeltachta Soiseár Dun na nGall in Falcarragh today 2-11 to 0-6 against Na Dunaibh. The first half was a scrappy affair with Na Dunaibh pulling and dragging as well as poor referee-ing combining to slow the game down which is simply not our style. The lads went in only two points up at half time, but it was without doubt the teams worst half this year. The second half opened up a bit as Naomh Mhuire's speed and better fitness started to show leaving bigger gaps for the forwards to move into and take their scores. A goal halfway through the second half by Sean Point Gallagher who spotted the Downings keeper off his line and lobbed a beauty into the net....was followed by a later Ciaran Mc Ginley goal sealing what was a good win in a poor match. The lads did us proud however by keeping their discipline and by doing so returned for a well deserved meal to the clubhouse followed by a refreshments in Bonner's Bar. They now represent Dún na nGall in Comórtas Naisuntá Peile na Gaeltachta and they play hosts Cloich Cheann Fhaola on Friday evening June 3rd again in Falcarragh. Caithaoirlach Cormac Mac Gairbheith pointed out in his few words in the Clubhouse this evening that in 2007...this was the first cup won in a season that returned a clean sweep of throphies including promotion to Div 2......that he said...is as good an omen as any. The lads are playing well and with a great hunger and bite.... and Naomh Mhuire were the best supported team over the weekend outnumbering support of Seniors sides like Naomh Conaill, Gleann Súilí etc ....with huge numbers attending the games. Focus however now returns firmly to the main objective of the league and the battle for promotion next Sunday.
