Having come through the preliminary round match last night playing well within themselves, Naomh Muire lifted their performance today against Clann na nGael, the club side of Meath's Graham Geraghty, and recorded a comfortable victory as well as an impressive display. From the throw in to the last kick of the match, the lads were always in control and although Clann na nGael enjoyed an early lead through a well taken goal, this game was never in doubt. It would not be right to say that Clann na nGael were not good enough, it was more that the Naomh Muire lads wanted to prove that the previous night's tight result was not true form and today's game had the lads back to playing their earlier league form with great passages of play being finished with ruthless scoring. Up front Clann na nGael found the constant running of young Adi O Gara and Ciaran Mc Ginley hard to deal with and with Owenie Mc Garvey, Paul Boyle "yank" and Brian Gillespie driving forward from the middle it was football played well with good quick early ball causing all kinds of problems. Harry Harden hit several great points both from play and frees and Owen Grant rattled the net after a great move. In defence, young Robbie O Donnell debutising for the Bankok bound JC Mulholland, played well again in a tight marking role. Dan Gallagher cut out any loose ball coming in and Sean Pointe O Gallachóír opened up a few moves from deep. Overall this was a very good Naomh Mhuire performance and they grew as the game went on. As has been the case all of this year the amount who have traveled to support has been outstanding and there was plenty to cheer on today. Amárach at 3.30pm....the lads will play Cumann Naomh Phádraig, An Fhairche.....the men from Clonbur deep from the Joyce Country of North Gaillimh. This will be a big test against a strong and fit Galway side. An Fhairche beat Baile an Chaiséail well today. If Naomh Muire maintain todays performance level plus a bit more, victory and a place in the final will be the reward. That is well within our young side and we all get the feeling after today that their best performance is ahead of them in Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta. Adh mór Danny agus na lads uilig .
