The u 16s travelled to Donegal Town on Monday evening last and put together another impressive display. Playing with the wind in the 1st half Naomh Mhuire started strongly and rattled the crossbar with their 1st attack through James Ferry. Scores from Jamie Boyle, James Ferry, Hugh Boyle and 4 frees from Sean mc Cafferty saw naomh Mhuire open up a decent lead. Their lead was extended with 2 goals from Sean mc cafferty. The first came after great work from Patrick Gillespie who slipped the ball inside for a simple finish and the 2nd came after a turn-over from Ryan o Donnell. Further points from Patrick Rodgers, Patrick Gillespie, Ryan o Donnell and a great team move finished by Sean Burns left the half-time score Four masters 0-02 Naomh Mhuire 2-12.
Four Masters started the 2nd half strong and after 15 mins reduced the lead to 9 points with some good point taking. However 2 quick goals from Jamie Boyle and Jack o Brien ended the game as a contest. Further points from Hugh Boyle, James Ferry, Ciaran Harden and a 45 from Sean mc Cafferty with the last kick of the game left the final score Four Masters 1-12 Naomh Mhuire 4-18. Another good performance following on from the previous week in Kilcar. Best on the night were Adam o Brien, Patrick Rodgers and Conor Boyle in defence, Patrick gillespie who was strong at midfield and James Ferry and Hugh Boyle who linked the play up front and were involved in setting up countless scores for their team-mates. That completes the league for the u16s who have competed extremely well and who enter the championship with no fears. Team and scorers: Gerald Boyle, Adam o Brien, Patrick Rodgers 0-01, Conor Boyle, Jamie Boyle 1-01, Jack o Brien 1-0, Sean Burns 0-1, Patrick Gillespie 0-1, Cameron Harley, Michael mc Bride, Hugh Boyle 0-02, Ryan o Donnell 0-1, James Ferry 0-02, Sean mc Cafferty 2-08, Darren Sweeney, Subs Ciaran Harden 0-01, Jack mc Devitt, Ronan Duffy.
