Naomh Muire dominated this match from the first minute and throughout the game in Glenswilly today. Mc Cumhaills now play Cloughaneely in a relegation play-off while Naomh Muire secure their Div 2 status for 2014.
The lads imposed themselves and with goals at the start of each half by Shaun the Yank and Owen Grant...they were too strong for a disappointing Mc Cumhaills side. Every Naomh Muire player contributed and even when Mac Cumhaills threaten to start a fight back they were denied. Div 2 and Senior Championship next year. Maith sibh a fheara. Early start today for this game in Maghregallan and it was
St. Eunans who started the brightest and at half time we trailed by 2-06 to 3pts going into the break. Eunans dominated the first half, but our girls never say die attitude kept their spirits up and in the second half the fightback began for the throw in. While our girls camped in side Eunans 45 for the second half,we just could not get the big scores to win the match and in the end with some heroic effort from our girls the clock ran out with St'Eunans emerging victorious. While we left Maghregallan losing this final, the effort by our young girls was never in question and we are mighty proud of everyone one of you. Big thanks to Robbie, John Mac, Marion and Eileen and the crew for their work with this great wee team and the words of our younger girls while having their much earned tea and biscuits after the match was, "We Will be Back" and of that their is no doubt with these girls! In the short space of a few years of Ladies football in the Club it is a big achievement to be in a Minor final at such an early stage in development of the Ladies board. To make a final against a team such as St Eunan's means that the pressure is all on the Letterkenny side and therefore the young Tigress's from the Lower Rosses will go into this match giving it their all. The attitude and determination of this side over the years has been an inspiration and we wish both management and team all the best on Sunday. We urge all supporters to make it a day on the road with the Minor Final at 11am in Gaoth Dobhair and the Senior Play-off against McCumhaills in Glenswilly at 2pm. Big match for the Seniors on Sunday against McCumhaills. The winners of this
match retain their Div 2 status while the losers play Cloughaneely in a relegation... play off. This makes it the most important match of the season and one that the lads can win and keep their Div 2 position. Although the team were beaten twice in recent weeks (against top Ulster club sides it must be said), the football played in both matches was of a high quality and if this is carried into Sunday's game and over the full hour.......victory will be Naomh Muire's. The team know that they are capable of winning this play-off and the supporters and club know that as well. As normal a huge travelling support is important and this can be a big boost on the day. We have a growing fan base and no doubt this will add to the day on Sunday. We wish the lads all the very best and look forward to another year in Division 2 with victory on Sunday.See More Éist arís le agallamh a rinne Owenie Mac Gairbheith, Pádraig Mac Eachmharcaigh agus Danny Ó Domhnaill le Séamus Mac Éidigh díreach i ndiaidh cluiche ceannais idirmheánach i bpáirc Uí Dhomhnaill, Leitir Ceanainn.
CLUB PLAN - Meeting tomorrow Monday Night at 8pm.
We invite all club members and non-members to attend a one hour Club Plan meeting in the Banks tomorrow night at 8pm. Over 140 have attended to date and the Club plan meetings are to collect suggestions, thoughts and comments to feed into what will eventually be the Naomh Muire Club plan for the next 5 years. Remember this is not simply about football or sport but issues and community and we invite all input. The meeting is designed to allow all voices to be heard and small groups of 3/4 are created. Please do come along and bring a friend or neighbour remembering it is about including as many as possible. Club Plan meeting tomorrow Night Monday at 8pm Foreglen (Derry) 2-11 v Naomh Muire (Donegal) 1-11. Foreglen of Derry go into the Ulster Semi Final following their comeback victory against Naomh Muire in Derry today. Having led all of the first half following a flying start...the Derry men narrowed the deficit to two points at Half time 1-5 to 1-03. The crucial 15 mins of the second half however belonged to the men from the Sperrins as they pulled back to equalize before getting the first of their two goals. Naomh Muire fell into a 4 point deficit before mounting their own impressive comeback in what became a thrilling second half. Naomh Muire had chances to go ahead but it didn't happen at the crucial times. With ten minutes left it was all square and in the end Foreglen got the vital scores to allow them to end the stronger side and seal victory. Overall it was game that slipped away from Naomh Muire and one that could have been won. It was great to see another huge turnout at Celtic Park with many who couldn't make it tuning into Facebook, Raidio na Gaeltachta and Highland Radio for updates. This support was lifting. That brings the Intermediate Championship season to an end and one that still has the prize of Senior Football in 2014. Good luck to Foreglen in the Ulster Semi- Final. Cúpla pictiúr on chluiche inniu. Mí ádh a fheara. The club would like to wish Hugh the Yank a speedy recovery following his injury at today's game. County Ladies Minor Semi Final: Naomh Muire 5-11 V Aodh Rua 2-02
A truly outstanding performance by the young Naomh Muire side against the mighty Aodh Rua Ballyshannon played this morning in Killygordon. The girls dominated throughout to get into the Clubs first Minor County Final. This is a great achievement and yet another big day out for the club and community as we look forward to another County Final. Could this be the start of a great day with the Ladies heading to Derry now to cheer on the Seniors. A bus for supporters will leave Annagry Car Park on Sunday at 12.15pm.
Ulster Intermediate Championship Quarter Final- Celtic Park Derry- Sunday November 3rd.
Foreglen O'Brien's (Doire) v Naomh Muire (Dún na nGall). It is with great pride and honour that Danny O'Donnell and the lads will represent both club and county in this Ulster Championship Intermediate Championship match in the famous Celtic Park Derry. Foreglen O'Brien's were founded in 1888 making them one of the first GAA clubs in Ireland and playing this 125 year old club means that we are playing a club steeped in History. By comparison Naomh Muire - founded in 1980 are one of Donegal's youngest clubs although we too are proud of our history and growth. This will be a great day in Derry and as the team are prepared for this Ulster clash - we now start the off field efforts to get the crowds out to Celtic Park for the big match. One thing that many are talking about since the win in Letterkenny was the huge Naomh Muire support and we also know that the team felt that as well throughout the game. This will be a tough match against a strong Foreglen side but with a strong support and the lads taking recent form into the match.....anything is possible on the day. Updates re transport, directions etc will be posted in the run up to the trip to Derry. NAOMH MUIRE ABÚ |
