As the Banks are now fully lit up thanks to the many who supported in so many ways......the project now turns to the changing rooms this weekend.
HELP is needed on Saturday morning 8am and throughout the day with installing windows, carpentry work and lots of labour help as well. Any kind of help, catering, running around etc would be appreciated. We are now aiming to complete the new additional changing rooms and other areas inside. If you can help with a day, half a day, a few hours or with anything at all... Naomh Muire were easy winners over Buncrana in this important league fixture played in front of a large crowd in the Banks today. Fresh from their Intermediate Championship win last weekend the home team were in no mood to ease off. The first half saw Naomh Muire well in control, playing some lovely football with some great passing and fine scores. They went in at the break leading by 8 points.
The home side's dominance continued in the second half and they went on to add some excellent points as well as hitting the net twice. Overall a totally controlled performance and a follow on from last week with pace and passing of top quality. If recent matches and performances are the standard now set by the lads, Glenswilly in the Banks in the final league match should be a great game. Well done to the lads and management on a great performance today. The Naomh Muire club would like to invite all members of our community along to the Banks this Friday evening (18/10/13) at 8pm for the official turning on of the new floodlights. With Michelle Nic Grianna kindly acting as MC for the night, Dinny McGinley, Minister of State for the Gaeltacht will be in attendance to officially turn on the lights. This is the culmination of many months of hard work and voluntary labour from so many within our community. Those who were not able to physically help on the ground have certainly come up trumps with sponsorship coming in from all over the world for this project. A lovely aspect of this campaign has been the sponsorship of lights in memory of our dears friends who are no longer with us. Many of these people were great supporters of our club and it is a fitting tribute to them to have a light shining down on our current and indeed our future players for many years to come. The club does not in anyway underestimate the contribution made by you all both at home and abroad. It gives us great comfort and support to think that no matter if you are in Singapore, Perth, New York or Capetown that you still keep the club very much close to your heart. Go raibh míle maith agaibh uilig. A list of all sponsors will be unveiled in the clubhouse on the night. Come along and join in the celebration from 8pm. Light refreshments will be available on the night. Please come early if possible for parking purposes. Plean Forbartha Teanga

Beidh seo a sheoladh ag Séamus Mac Ruairí istigh sa club theach ar an oíche. An important and impressive away league win for the Seniors yesterday evening (05/10/13) in a hard fought, physical match which saw 3 of the home side red carded. Termon, sitting second in the league, were very lucky to go in at half time with a one point lead as Naomh Muire were the better side in the first half playing some smart possession football at pace. The lads led most of the first half until Termon got a scrappy goal against the run of play.
The second half saw Termon come out looking for a win that would move them within league leaders Glenswilly and they showed their strength by building up a three point lead after ten minutes. However Shaun the Yank Boyle chipped County reserve keeper Michael Boyle for a goal and followed up with a point to put the lads ahead. It was at this point that Naomh Muire took the game by the scruff of the neck and although Termon tried to muscle their way out of the Naomh Muire comeback, former County player Sean O'Donnell was red carded for Termon for consistent dangerous play. This was two very important points and with two league games at home v Buncrana and Glenswilly....the lads will be targeting maximum points. It is still technically possible to make a promotion play-off and 4 points in the last two league games would be a great run-in. Credit to each and every player who played tonight and of course to Danny and his backroom team and whereas this is a great result.....the three remaining games including next weeks final are all HUGE games....what a great season end this can be. Tonight's result was achieved without regulars Paul the Yank, Owenie Mc Garvey and Jack O'Brien. We will certainly not forget another outstanding result by the Reserves tonight. Trailing by 4 points against a strong and experienced Termon side. ....the young lads battled back and played some great attacking football and won by four points. With several experienced players like Brian Feda, Darren Gallagher, Séamus Ferry steadying the ship...the mainly young side are a credit to watch and they never believe they are beaten. In this reserve side are many who are developing into players who can then push on to the Senior squad and that is no doubt where many of them are heading. The success of the Reserves this year has now set a strong platform of talent coming through. Credit to Gary Boyle and his mentors. In 2014 Garda vetting is going to be compulsory for all coaching members and club members who are involved with under age teams. This is not a club rule but is the law and it is being implemented by 'Coaching Ireland' and GAA Clubs are going to have to step into line and implement these rules. We ask anyone who is thinking about helping out next year and existing Coaches to contact the Children's officer Dónal Ó'Séarcáigh to get Garda vetting done and to avail of the courses that will benefit not only coaches but the club and club teams. Remember GARDA VETTING is law from 2014 and its for everyone's protection that we implement this rule! |
