24/03/13 Roinn 1 - Faoi 14: Naomh Muire 1-09 Cill Chartha 1-05
Naomh Muire under 14s got their league campaign off to a winning start with an evenly match contest with a travelling Kilcar team. A strong breeze made conditions difficult for both teams with Naomh Muire playing with the aid of the wind in the 1st Half. Naomh Muire led at half-time by 7 points to nil with opening points from Declan mc Cready, Declan Ward and John mc Garvey. Jack o Donnell blasted over the bar with a goal chance on and Daniel ward added another point after good team-play. John mc Garvey added his 2nd point of the game and Declan Ward also added his 2nd point of the game just before half-time. Naomh Muire began the 2nd half playing into a stiff breeze and started well with a great point from John Mc Garvey. Kilcar added 3 points to leave the score 8 points to 3 with 15 mins gone in the 2nd Half. Kilcar then got a goal with 10 mins left to set-up an exciting finish however Naomh Muire broke up the field and got a goal with a good low finish from Declan Ward. Naomh Muire added another point through Declan ward and Kilcar completed the scoring to leave the final score Naomh Muire 1-09 Kilcar 1-04. Best for Naomh Muire were Jordan Doogan who was solid in goals, Dara Boyle and Daniel Ward in the half-back line, and John mc Garvey and Bernard Boyle who kept things simple up front. Ultan Boyle and Declan ward also worked hard throughout the game. A good start to the season with some glimpses of good play from Naomh Muire when they moved the ball fast. The next game for the under 14s is away to Four Masters this Thursday at 5.30pm in Donegal Town. Their will be training in the banks this Wednesday from 4.30pm - 5.30 pm.
