Big Year ahead in underage coaching and games Naomh Columba take the win in the Banks- The final minor league game of the season saw a somewhat surprise victory for a dogged visiting Naomh Columba this evening. Having been unbeaten up to last Wednesday night- our young Minors found it difficult to pull back against a strong Naomh Columba who were full value for the win. Although our Minors will be gutted this evening - much more is learned in defeat than by winning at this level and with the Championship still to come ...these young lads have shown in the past that they rebound well and no doubt they will get down to serious training for the opening match against Naomh Conaill. This is a good group of lads and they will respond once the wounds are licked.
The minors took on Aodh Ruadh tonight in this the latest match in minor league section 1. In very wintry conditions in Annagry it was the visitors who took a 2 point lead into half time 1-05 to 6 points. Naomh Muire could of booked their spot in the final against Ardara with a win tonight but it wasn't going to be easy as Aodh Ruadh can also qualify for the final and not forgetting they are the County champions with a point to prove after starting the season poorly.
The start of the second half the home team rattled the net to go 1 point up and with a couple of points after that they started to look comfortable.Their was never any more than 3 points between the teams and the game was always their for the taking but the Ballyshannon men stuck at it and were rewarded with a 2 point win that now opens up the league once more. Final Score: Naomh Muire 1-10, Aodh Ruadh 1-12 If the 3 contenders Naomh Muire, Dungloe & Aodh Ruadh win their remaining matches then they will all be tied on 10 points. The action continues on Friday evening where the following games take place: Naomh Muire v Naomh Columba Derg Gaels v Aodh Ruadh Dungloe v St Johns All @ 7pm Following two league games this evening the Minor league table now looks like this:
Naomh Columba 0-05 Dungloe 2-11 Naomh Conaill 4-10 Naomh Brid/Pettigo 3-05 The U-18 boys will play their final two league games next week. The first one is on Wednesday 17th at home Aodh Ruadh (Ballyshannon) and the final one, also at home is on Friday, 19th against Naomh Columba. Both games are at 7pm. The latest table is shown below.
Tá gasúraí agus girseachaí faoi seacht déag ag gabhail go Gallaimh an deireadh seachtaine seo (12/04/13 - 14/04/13) le páirt a ghlacadh i gcomórtas Óige na Gaeltachta. Is cluichí seachtar an taobh atá i gceist agus beidh na cluichí ann Dé Sathairn in éadan foirne as Gallaimh, Corcaigh, Ciarraí, Baile Cliath agus Béal Feirste. Chuaigh siad uilig síos go Gallaimh aréir agus beidh siad ag fanacht go dtí an Domhnach. Guíonn muid gach ráth orthu. The U-17 boys and girls are going to Galway this weekend (12/04/13 - 14/04/13) to play in the Óige na Gaeltachta all-ireland 7 a side competition. They travelled down last night (Friday) and will be staying until Sunday. The football takes place on Saturday against teams from Galway, Cork, Kerry Dublin and Belfast.
The Minor boys travelled to Ballintra to take on the amalgamated Naomh Brid/Pettigo side. This was the third away match and the lads made it another victory winning easily 0-14 to 0-5. The Minors are unbeaten following 4 games in Div 1. This represents another strong team showing - heading away in Easter week to the South of the County and playing well. As always this victory wasn't based on tonight...these young lads have spent many many nights working away at their fitness and conditioning. There are much tougher games ahead in the weeks and months before us and that will be bigger tests but credit to our Minors for showing good attitude.
