Minor Championship - Naomh Mhuire 2-11 v Naomh Conaill 1-04
In what can be described only as a top drawer second half performance the young Naomh Muire minors beat the visiting Glenties side in the Banks tonight.
Having been beaten in the first leg two weeks ago in Glenties, Naomh Muire had to win tonight to force a play-off. Playing with a strong breeze in the first half, the lads missed quite a few scorable points and paid the price when Naomh Conaill broke upfield and netted leaving only a 3 point lead to Naomh Muire at half time.
Naomh Conaill, managed by Donegal star Leo McLoone came out in determined mood in the second half but were met by a Naomh Muire side playing a much faster and intense game. The young tigers of the Lower Rosses put on a display of strength, teamwork and support play that was a delight to watch and the visitors were simply no match as the lads took full control . Brian Grant pulled off two great saves and his defence were outstanding when Naomh Conaill threatened. This was an entire team display at its very best and the lads will take this confidence with them into what will be a tough play-off against one of the county's top minor sides.
The play-off next week will be another night and another challenge but the home crowd saw a great performance by a side managed by Sean Mc Fadden, Timmy Mc Bride and Gary Boyle.
A huge congrats to all management and players and a big support will no doubt make it to the play-off.
