Naomh Colmcille reached the last four of the Intermediate Championship today following a three point victory in Termon this afternoon. Played in terrible conditions the first half proved to be a low scoring affair with Naomh Muire just edging it having the benefit of the elements in the first half. That two point lead was to prove not to be enough with Naomh Colmcille making the most of the wind and rain at their backs. A missed second half penalty could have changed matters but it was not to be.
Naomh Muire will now re-focus on the league and the push for promotion. A good day was held in the banks on Saturday morning with Naomh Mhuire under 10s hosting GaothDobhair, St.Michaels and St.Eunans. The weather was windy which made conditions tough and apart from one heavy downpour it stayed dry. All teams played well on the day with very little seperating the 4 teams making all games competitive. It was great to see St.Eunans at the banks yesterday and we hope to see them back in the future. Thanks also to our neighbours Gaothdobhair who are frequent visitors at this stage and to St.Michaels who always have been coming to the banks this last couple of years for challenge games at all under-age levels. Thanks to the ladies who did great work in the kitchen with first class service and welcome which is the norm at this stage. Thanks to referees Robbie o Donnell who was in Croke park a couple of weeks ago but was back on under-age duty in the banks yesterday. Also thanks to young Aidi o Gara who was also officiating and who is a great example of the kind of young lads we want in the club.
St. Nauls, Naomh Columba and Urris have all booked their place in the semi finals tonight (10/09/2011) after recording victories in their respective championship matches. The last semi final spot will be decided tomorrow in Termon when Naomh Muire meet Naomh Colmcille in a playoff at 2pm.
No luck for the reserves this evening in Carndonagh where it was advantage to the home team in the first leg of the Reserve Championship. With a home leg to come, hopefully the lads can push it to a third game.
Another great victory for the girls and yet another County final to look forward to following on from Last Year's Under 14 Final division 1 success. To have both the boys and girls under 16 teams in Div 1 county finals in the same year is a great achievement. The Naomh Mhuire girl's side were in control of this game from the start and although the strong and hotly tipped Four Masters side made several attempts to get back into it......Naomh Mhuire were fa...r too strong right over the field. Although there were several strong performances on the banks of the River Finn tonight....it was overall an outstanding team display with everyone pitching in throughout the hour. This is another great achievement by Naomh Mhuire. Well done to Robbie, Donald and Conal O' Gara and all the team on a great performance and we look forward to another Final with pride. The under 13s will continue their div 1 league campaign with a game away to Killybegs on Saturday morning. Throw-in time for the game is at 11am. The bus will leave the car park at 9.15am.
