The Under 10s will play a mini-blitz against Gaoth Dobhair in the Banks on Saturday at noon. Parents are encourgaed to come along as this is the first action of the outdoor season having had a really good indoor coaching season in the SportsHall at the RCS.
Our under 10s put in great committment to these coaching sessions and are deserving of all the support in Saturday's blitz where we welcome our neighbours from Gaoth Dobhair, themselves fresh from a winter of indoor work. The Minor team commence their Minor League campaign with a home game on Friday the 1st of April.
They will host Naomh Conaill in the Banks, at 6:30pm. Please come out to support this team in their third year at the top level of minor football. Although the Senior and reserves did really well today to kick start their season with a bang.....Pride of place today goes to the Club under 16 side who beat Ardara by a point. This is to top flight...Divison 1 of the league and having already beaten Killybegs, this is another big club scalp especially as the side were criticised correctly for poor discipline last week in their game with Dungloe. They answered like men today and although down by 5 points coming into the last ten minutes, they pointed their way back with a display of controlled and disciplined football out of the top drawer against a strong Ardara side. It was a pleasure to watch this game today and Gary Boyle, Sean Mc Fadden and Timmy McBride have once again put together a side which has set a standard within the club....be proud.....be very proud.
Senior: Naomh Muire 0-12 Naomh Colmcille 0-06
Reserve: Naomh Muire 2-11 Naomh Colmcille 2-07 Sunday March 27 2011: Naomh Muire welcomed former All-Ireland winner Barry O Hagan led Naomh Colmcille to the banks today for the first league game of the season. County squad players Thomas Mc Kinlay and Ryan McErlean also lined out for the progressive Newtowncunningham side in bright sunny conditions. It was however our home side who took all honours controlling the game from start to finish and winning by 6 points but never being under any pressure against a big strong and very fit visiting side. Naomh Muire seniors look in really good shape and the winter of tough training showed through today. Earlier the reserves, who trailed for long periods came strong in the end and won their game by three points. Although its early season...there is a great feeling about the club seniors and reserves this year. Support them through the year. Naomh Muire: 1. Seán Gallagher, 2. JC Mullholland, 3. Thomas Duffy, 4. Charlie Doherty, 5. Pádraig McCafferty, 6. Séamus Ferry, 7. Daniel Gallagher, 8. Owenie McGarvey, 9. Brian Gillespie, 10. Harry Harden (2pts), 11. Owen Grant (2 pts), 12. Paul Boyle, 13. Shaun Boyle (1pt), 14. Tom McHugh (2pts), 15. Ciaran McGinley (4pts). Subs: Adi O Gara for Séamus Ferry All the very best to Naomh Mhuire Senior side who start off their league campaign against Naomh Colmcille (Newtowncunningham) in the banks tommorrow. Reserves play at 1.30pm and Seniors at 3pm. Where possible come down and support the lads in their efforts at getting promoted this year. They have worked hard in the winter months and all support is needed to bring the club to its rightful position. Good luck lads.
