Showing three changes in the starting line-up the travelling team raced into an early lead with two early goals. John Pidgeon got on the end of a long high ball played into the square and finished coolly to the net. Minutes later it was Shaun 'The Yank' Boyle's turn when he rounded his man and rattled the net. Points from Ciaran 'Moses' McGinley and an industrious Shaun Boyle left Naomh Muire eight points up after thirteen minutes. The home team responded with a point and but where unable to bridge the gap by any more before half time.
The second half saw the Naomh Muire management introduce a number of subs and they continued to add on the scores. Naomh Muire ran out easy winners in the end. They will now face Na Rossa in the semi-final on Sunday at 1pm. (Photos from tonight's game to follow......) Following the great result by the Seniors and reserves on Monday....The Naomh Muire Under 16s went up to Kilcar and beat a fancied Kilcar side very well with young Sean Mc Cafferty scoring 1-10.
The U-16s who have already beaten Ardara in division 1 of this league and these are great performances which means there is a steady stream of young determined lads coming through the ranks who are only years away from Senior football. They next game is against Four Masters in the Banks on Monday night and are well worthy of our support. Well done to team mentors Gary Boyle, Sean Mc Fadden and Timmy Mc Bride. The Minor game scheduled for Friday Night against Ardara, has been cancelled. This game and the other two games will now be scheduled for a later date. The proposed dates are the 24th of June and 2nd of July. Further updates will be provided when available.
