There will be a tribute night in memory of the late James Cookie Boyle in the Naomh Muire Clubhouse on Saturday the 1st of June at 8 O'Clock.
Everyone is welcome and a night of entertainment is laid on, so come along and enjoy the evening. The U-14 Girls squad were presented with a new set of strips by Aerport Dhún na nGall this evening (28/05/13). It’s great that local companies like Donegal Airport are willing to sponsor our teams and in these hard times for businesses it’s all the more appreciated by our club and members. Maith sibh Aerport Dhún na nGall. Naomh Muire v Cloughaneely - Saturday at 5pm in the Banks. This mid-table and crucial league division 2 match takes place tomorrow evening (Saturday) at 5pm. The Seniors have had a mixed first half of the league campaign to date with several narrow defeats taking the gloss off otherwise impressive victories. The football being played at times is certainly impressive and this match is a real test as a win or loss with the position of both clubs can make a big difference to league positions. This year the lads have shown that they are a match for the top teams in the division and victory tomorrow night will put them right back up there with the hunting pack. Victory against Cloich Cheann Fhaola would make for an interesting second half of the campaign and with the bigger guns yet to come to the Banks - anything is possible in the months ahead. So all the very best to Danny and the lads tomorrow evening and lets get a big crowd down to the Banks at 5pm. Please pass on this message to ensure the time and venue is known to all - there is no reserve match. All the very best to Patrick Gillespie, Hugh (Yank) Boyle and Jack O'Brien who are all part of the Donegal Minor squad for Sunday's match with Tyrone. All three have done really well to make this panel and it is a recognition for our Club to have 3 players involved at this level. The 3 lads have come through an underage system since they were 7 or 8 and many coaches, mentors and committee members helped to develop them and hundreds others. We wish them all the best and regardless of the result- they will be back in action for Naomh Muire in the upcoming Minor Championship match with Naomh Conaill in Mid June.

Thanks, Gary Seniors - Naomh Muire 0-08 Seán Mac Cumhaill 0-09
A hungrier away side took the spoils in the Banks today in a disappointing home defeat for the Seniors. With a cross wind slightly favouring the lads in the first half and taking a 3 point lead- Mac Cumhaills fought hard before the break to narrow it to a point by half time. The second half saw Mac Cumhaills get into a two point lead before being awarded a penalty which was well saved by Sean Gallagher. Naomh Muire fought back after being 3 down but couldn't get that final point which would have seen a share of the points. Reserves - Naomh Muire 3-11 v Mc Cumhaills 1-08 The Reserves put in a fine hour of open football with probably one of the youngest teams to take the field in recent years. Packed with Minors from both this year and last they cut through Mac Cumhaills with some really good football and finishing. Not the best of days- However plenty to play for in what is becoming a tough and tight league. Naomh Muire will still have huge bearing on happenings in the league over the rest of the season. |
