The Minors will play Ardara in the banks this friday evening with a throw-in time of 7.30. The minors can still qualify for the league final depending on the result of this game.
Due to Donegal playing in Croke Park on Saturday, Under 10 training will take place this Friday evening in the banks at 6.30 instead of Saturday morning.
The U-16 girls will have their second outing in the league next week when they take on Cloich Cheann Fhaola in the banks. The girls had a good victory against Gaoth Dobhair a few weeks ago and so will be hoping to carry that good form into the league. The game throws in at 7pm. The final two games in their section will be against Naomh Conaill and Naomh Micheal (times and dates yet to be decided). The ladies lost out by a single goal in Dungloe tonight (27/07/2011). As the scoreline shows our odessey in the championship came to an end tonight in Rosses park, Dungloe. While Glenties proved to be that wee bit stronger than us, we never gave up the chase and could have sneaked a victory at the end.The young girls showed great pride in the jersey and went down pushing for a win, we can only think if we had five minutes more. While the championship is over we must change tack now and push on in the league for a play off position. Two games left to play and leading our section its on the cards to be in the playoffs. Be proud of yourselves tonight Ladies, fighting spirit untill the end. Go raibh maith agat do Bhríd arís....photos are available in the gallery. Click here to view. 1.ROSEANNE SHARKEY 2. YVONNE BYRNE Naomh Muire just came up short in what was a rip roaring end to end game. It finished all square after normal time with Naomh Muire equalising in the final minutes to send the game into extra time. This young side battled hard all throughout the game and had they taken a few more of their chances the result may have been different. In the end only a goal seperated the teams so well done to the players and management for a great effort. Most of this team will still be U-21 next year and so they will only build from this and be stronger next year.
Aodh Ruadh won last night's (25/07/2011) Divisional final in Dungloe. The Ballyshannon side played the better football on the night and dominated key areas while our lads just simply didnt get the breaks when they were needed. Aodh Ruadh scored their first goal against the run of play and whereas Naomh Muire matched them in open play at times......we hit the post, had a penalty claim turned down and missed several easy scores within ten minutes......all of which were needed against a strong Aodh Ruadh side. Naomh Muire rallied back near the end of the first half and into the second half but the crucial couple of goals required just could not be found. Sometimes you have to say hats off to an opposition in full flow and watching Aodh Ruadh play the ball out of defence was top drawer stuff. Overall a combination of this together with it simply not being our lads night meant that the result was never in doubt with 15 mins to go. This may have another chapter however. Naomh Mhuire are still in the County Semi-final against Northern Champions McCumhaills. When the young lads lick their wounds and get back to training this week...they will now realise that they came within a minute of beating this fine Aodh Ruadh side last week....and that along with recent performances against Kilcar and Ardara will stand to them. The players, management, club and its supporters will be ready for this semi-final clash wherever or whenever it is on. No luck lads.....you've done us proud up to now and its not over yet. Thanks to Bríd Sweeney all the action was captured and is now available in the Gallery. Click here to view. Supporters who require tickets for the Donegal v Kildare All Ireland quater final match are asked to make contact with the Cisteoir (Danny Doogan) A.S.A.P. Tickets will have to be ordered by close of buisness Tuesday. The game will be played as part of a double header in Croke Park on Saturday. Tyrone v Roscommon @ 4pm Donegal v Kildare @ 6pm Monday First up this week are the U-16's when they take on Aodh Ruadh Ballyshannon in the Divisional Final replay. This game takes place this evening (Monday 25/07/2011) in Dungloe at 7:30p.m. The young Under 16s have done us all proud in recent weeks transforming from just another under 16 squad to a very well organised and hard working group of lads beating Kilcar and Ardara when most expected otherwise. The second half comeback against Aodh Ruadh when they were behind by 9 points was the work of legends. This game is preceded by the Naomh Mhuire v Dungloe Under 12 match which commences at 6pm. On a note of thanks - we thank Dungloe GAA Club for hosting us very warmly in both under 8 and under 10 blitzes over the weekend and also for hosting tonights Under 16 final. Tuesday Tommorrow it's the turn of the U-21's who take on Glenswily in the Banks in the first round proper of the U-21A Championship. This team has done well so far by beating a fancied Four Masters team in the preliminary round. This game throws-in at 7:30p.m. in the Banks. Wednesday The ladies are next out on Wednesday in the Junior Championship semi final. This game takes place in Dungloe at 7:30p.m. Following wins over Red Hughs and their excellent win over Fanad Gaels in the quater finals, the ladies are now up against Naomh Conaill in the semi final. On the same evening the U-14s travel to Donegal Town to take on Four Masters in the league. Friday Finally on Friday the Minor (u-18s) entertain Ardara in the Banks in Section 2 of the Minor League. This game is at 7:30 p.m. Weekend The August bank holiday weekend is traditionally a free weekend for clubs, so there will be no league games this weekend. All roads lead to Croke Park this weekend, where Donegal take on Cill Dara in the All Ireland Quater Final. Times and Dates to be announced today (Monday). |
