The under 14s travelled to Ardara to take on the league leaders in division 1. The boys put up a good performance against one of the county's strongest teams. A strong start from Ardara saw them score some early scores running through the middle and finding the net. Naomh Mhuire had plenty of possession but were struggling to get scores playing into a strong wind. Towards the end of the 1st half a penalty miss was followed by 2 points from Seimi Grant. Naomh Mhuire put together a strong 2nd half showing and actually won the 2nd half by 6 points to a single penalty from Ardara. Good scores from Jack Boyle and Shane Gillespie with their weaker left pegs and 2 scores from play from Darren Sweeney and another point from Conor White completed the scoring. The lads know they will have some tough games in Div 1 this year but they are moving in the right direction. The boys are starting to work the ball out of defence well with Michael Greene playing well tonight and hand-passing the ball well. On reflection Ardara scored 11 times to Naomh Mhuires 8 scores with the concession of goals a problem. Playing in Div 1 will only improve these players and by the time they are minors the score-line will be a lot closer and Ardara will not be scoring 7 goals. In Div 1 every score, pass, catch tackle has to be worked hard for and the benefits will be seen in the long-term. Keep the heads up boys and keep training hard.
